A Deceptively Related Tangent
Authors often think of the kind of readers who will enjoy the books they write. I think of my ideal reader as the Mystic Nerd. Someone interested in spirituality, but too cool to show their interest that much. But a nerd when it comes to arcane, complex, multi-layered material. Like really long, multi-volume fantasy epics.
So, thinking about where I might find Mystic Nerds, I wondered if I might snag a few from the role-playing game community. The RPG community are folks who suckled on Dungeons and Dragons and expanded from there. Surely there’s RPGers who would like to explore many different worlds. Or play many different incarnations. Or search for their qaraq. Could The Reincarnation Chronicles have an RPG incarnation?
The Qaraq role-playing game is a ways off in development, but right now there’s the Qaraq Codex!
What is the Qaraq Codex?
The Qaraq Codex is many things:
✦ a mystical manual for how to find your personal qaraq, your soul family
✦ a cosmic personality test, with exercises to explore the qualities your soul
✦ a sketch for a role playing game, with playful archetypes and imaginative Worlds from The Reincarnation Chronicles that offer clues to finding your qaraq
The Qaraq Codex contains fun exercises to:
✦ recognize signs of soul connection with someone
✦ imagine what historical period, relationship, or life lesson you shared with them
✦ learn your Soul Name
✦ know your Archetype (based on the Scheherazade legend)
✦ discover which Worlds your qaraq inhabited
Once you’ve enjoyed these activities, the Qaraq Codex will determine your Soul Profile, put you on a path for finding your qaraq, and suggest deepening interactions you can do at qaraq meet-ups.
The nerdy document comes with beautiful, mystical visuals and simple forms to fill out. It is a comprehensive document, with a logical sequence to follow. And it’s full of humor while being as serious as life and death.

“The ancient wisdom keepers knew a secret: souls don’t travel solo. Across lifetimes and Worlds, we move in Secret Circles—bands of eternal companions who find each other again and again. Somewhere deep in the Records (the ones you’re not supposed to find), or on old scrolls found in dusty corners, or in loosely-translated desert chants, there’s a word for it: Qaraq.
To seek your qaraq, here’s a suggestion from the Codex:
“Your soul has lived in countless Worlds. Because your incarnations are Infinite, you may have been to any and all of these places.
• Slip into your archetype and try out your persona in a World. Walk around, observe.
• While there, ask your archetype questions about what you observe. Meditate on them.
• If you’re working with others, visit the Worlds with them.”
And here’s an example of a thought exercise from the Codex:
