Yearn for an infinitely imaginative ocean of stories?

1001, The Reincarnation Chronicles is an 11-book series modeled after The Thousand and One Nights.  Like the Nights, each chapter contains a story – 1001 past life stories!

Holy Scheherazade!

ABOUT THE SERIES

The central story of 1001 is a modern-day version of the Scheherazade tale from the Arabian Nights

Sahara Fleming, a brilliant, beautiful suburban wife and Middle Eastern scholar, tells stories of her past lives to save her oppressive marriage. Exploring the mysteries of her reincarnation memories, Sahara meets her qaraq, the group of souls she encounters lifetime after lifetime.

Each qaraq member corresponds to a character in the Scheherazade story. In each chapter, one of the ‘qaraqis’ recounts a past life memory. The ‘Scheherazade in New Jersey’ narrative acts as a frame tale interweaving with each chapter’s past life story.

The 11 central qaraqis in the present-day narrative uncover an interlocking karmic history.  Their understanding of this history challenges the qaraqis’ present-day choices.

(whispered): In addition, there are 11 hidden numerological and literary structures lying beneath the complex narrative, supporting the arcane laws of karma.

WHY THE NIGHTS?

I had the seed for The Reincarnation Chronicles series for many years – to write a novel built upon fragmented past life memories that create a puzzle of karmic history.

But the idea lay fallow until I envisioned the structure of the 1001 Nights as a model for unfolding the fragments one chapter at a time, the way Scheherazade unfolds story fragments to King Shahryar one night at a time.

And as for Scheherazade…

Was there ever a stronger, more brilliant, more sexually charged, richer, or braver female character? Could she reform the worst possible misogynistic murderer with a thousand nights of storytelling?

In the Nights, we get no further character development once she starts telling her stories to save her life. But, what if, with my modern Scheherazade, there were present-day events that unfolded in between the storytelling bits?

What if the stories, all being karmically related, created a path toward reformation and transcendence? Or betrayal and catastrophe?

FAQ’s

Is it important to read all eleven books? And if so, in what order?
1001, The Reincarnation Chronicles is one big book. So it’s best to read from the beginning and carry on through the eleven books. But each book has its own unique enticements, its own story, its own theme.

Do you believe in reincarnation?
Yes, if belief means devoting the last third of my life to writing a series about what it means if our souls are immortal.  No, if belief means knowing for sure what happens to our soul when we die.  But everything is possible, neh?
